Who we are

This is a campaign site for the Green Open Homes campaign run by Wiltshire Climate Alliance, a community group interested in all aspects of the Climate Emergency and Nature Degradation.

To our hosts

If you agree to be a host we will collect and hold the data you provide us about you and your home, including contact, address data and images, sufficient to offer visitors a visit to your home. We will not seek to collect any information that you do not volunteer to us. We will support booking visits at the times you tell us suit you. We will share the details you provide with prospective visitors but not publicly in either analogue or digital form.

The primary basis for this is your consent but there is also a contractual basis. If you wish, we will allow you to withdraw from that contract at any stage but please be aware that we may not be able to withdraw data already shared or cancel appointments already made.

To public bodies

We will regularly update the published contact details for local bodies such as parish and town councils for the purpose of promoting low Carbon and nature restoring events and activities to residents and businesses in Wiltshire and Swindon.

We do this on the basis that it is both legitimate community activity and in the public interest. We will take reasonable measures to keep this data up to date and will correct it in accordance with your rights under UK GDPR regulations.

To visitors

We will collect and store the contact details you provide to us in order to facilitate visits to local Green Open Homes. We ask your understanding that our hosts are opening their homes to you in order to share their journeys towards a low Carbon and revived nature future. We will share the details you provide with the hosts you select. We will also retain your details to follow up with you on your Green Home journey and to track the cumulative benefits from the work of our group. We will not share these details in a personally identifiable form except as required by appropriate authorities (and frankly we can’t imagine what those might be).

We do this on the basis of your consent and the contract between us to facilitate visits. As we do for hosts, we will allow you to cancel at any stage but if may be impossible to withdraw data already shared. However, we hope that you will find these events informative and motivating and that you will want to stay in touch, perhaps even offering to host your own visitors in future events.
